“So when he had washed their feet (and) put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, ‘Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master,’ and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. At Saint Pius X, we dedicate our prayers, time, and treasure to help support area pregnancy centers and outreach organizations. St. Pius has a partnership with the following organizations to support women in crisis pregnancies and children of low-income families: Women’s Care Center, Hannah’s House, and Christ Child Society of South Bend. Our entire parish participates in a Baby Shower throughout the month of October in support of these ministries. We support Right to Life Michiana in prayer and education advocacy, more information may be found on the link to the right.
We recognize the dignity in the elderly by sending 6 prayer teams out each week to nearby senior residences. These volunteers lead a pre-written prayer service including the Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet and distributes Holy Communion. Often these senior citizens are not able to leave the building very often, so assisting Jesus to come to them is a true blessing.
Saint Pius has a partnership with the Center for Hospice Care as all life is sacred from conception through natural death. Volunteers are trained by Hospice to help with everything from office work to patient care according to the volunteer’s time and talent.
