"You have gone to confession. A loving God has forgiven you.
However, you cannot forget." ~ What does this mean?
Many women who choose abortion never thought they would do so. Often they were surrounded by people advocating abortion and would have carried the baby to term if someone close to them had given them support. Panic, fear, skewed logic, hopelessness, and pressure from friends and family lead them to a devastating decision. These same feelings can lead any of us to make poor decisions.
Unfortunately, once the abortion procedure is over, the memories linger. Certain moments in life trigger those memories: a birth, a Baptism, children standing at the bus stop, teens at a sports event, college graduations, family marriages.
A person wonders, 'What if my child (grandchild,...) had lived?'
A woman or man may be single, married, divorced or widowed. They may have other children, step-children or be childless. They may seem to live a normal life, but these thoughts prevail. If only there was someone to talk with who has experienced and understands this situation. Well, there is.....
The Church is here for you, in strict confidence. ~ You are not alone.
Please contact the Diocesan or parish Project Rachel resource listed above if you, or someone close to you, is affected from a previous abortion. It doesn't matter how long it has been!
Also, there is a prayer booklet available at the below link. We pray that it will be a source of comfort and peace on a journey towards God's abundant love for you.
