Through the musical gifts that God has blessed each of us with, parish musicians see clearly that music was not designed for the glory of humanity, but for the reflective beauty of the glory of God. Through our voices and instruments, we desire to be mirrors of God’s glory and lead people closer to God.
Each Sunday, through the gifts of vocal and instrumental music, the music ministry leads the people of Saint Pius X to full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy. In keeping with the liturgical documents, the parish musician takes seriously the call to be a disciple first, then a minister. All parish musicians embrace their calling when approaching every note and every chord, being disciples of Christ first while striving to give breath to the spiritual life within each song.
There are a number of ensembles at Saint Pius, offering opportunities for music ministry for all ages. If you would like more information about these ensembles, click the link in the menu to the right.
“As St. Augustine says, “Singing is for the one who loves.” Music is therefore a sign of God’s love for us and of our love for him. In this sense, it is very personal. But unless music sounds, it is not music, and whenever it sounds, it is accessible to others. By its very nature song has both an individual and a communal dimension. Thus, it is no wonder that singing together in church expresses so well the sacramental presence of God to his people.”
