By working as a team of volunteers we can provide something that most of us could never do as individuals, provide a home for a family that could not have had one without our help.
How the Ministry Works:
Planning for the current years Habitat for Humanity, Matthew-25 home begins in the winter.
Construction typically begins in June and is completed in August.
Through our input and the needs of the project we are assigned a Saturday work day.
There are morning and afternoon shifts. Lunches are also provided by a participating church.
Supervision, safety instructions, and on the job training are provided by Habitat for Humanity.
As team members we are not responsible for our share of funding for the project. It is provided by St. Pius X through our stewardship and the recommendation of the Financial Resources Committee.
Expecations:
Membership is open to all St. Pius X parishioners. No special skills are required.
You must be 16 years of age or older to work on the house.
Matthew-25 team members are expected to take an active role in the planning of our participation in the current year’s project (this is normally done through e-mail).
We are also asked to work one shift on one Saturday to build the home.
