How the Ministry Works:
There are several ways in which parishioners can participate in the Parish Lending Library.
Weekday volunteers check books in and out using the computer system, reshelve returned books in Dewey Decimal order, input new patrons and new materials into an online database, and keep the library and waiting area across from the Holy Cross Room neat and organized.
Weekend volunteers come in on their scheduled weekend, before or after any of the Masses. Responsibilities are the same as the weekday volunteer.
Straighten-only volunteers straighten and maintain Dewey Decimal order of the shelved books in the library, and also keep the waiting area across from the Holy Cross Room neat and organized.
Expectations:
Weekday Volunteers are scheduled on a rotating basis for approximately 45 minutes, 2-3 times monthly. Basic computer and data entry skills are necessary.
Weekend Volunteers are also scheduled on a rotating basis for approximately 45 minutes, 1-2 times per month. Basic computer and data entry skills are necessary.
Straighten-only Volunteers are also scheduled on a rotating basis. They may come in any day and time the library is open during their scheduled week for approximately 1 hour, once a month. NO computer or data entry skills are necessary.
All Lending Library volunteers are required to attend a yearly, one hour training session.
