Hope Ministries, 432 S. Lafayette Blvd. in South Bend, has been sheltering, feeding and ministering to our area’s homeless population since 1954. The organization provides housing for 18 families (including married families and single mothers/single fathers with children), 16 single women and 40 single men. They also operate a community kitchen where about 300 meals are served every day to resident families and the homeless.
 
Saint Pius X has partnered with Hope Ministries for many years. Six times a year, volunteers from the parish plan, shop, prepare and serve a dinner at Hope to about 150 people (about a thousand per year). A main entrée is prepared by Saint Pius X volunteers on our assigned day. Side dishes, salads and desserts are prepared in our volunteers’ homes and transported from Saint Pius X to Hope in time for dinner.  Our volunteers cheerfully serve the dinner to the Hope families and other area homeless.
