Physical Accessibility
Saint Pius X parish strives to make our parish campus accessible to all persons requiring mobility assistance. Please consult the church accessibility map for automatic door locations, as well as accessible pews and cut-out locations.
Accessible parking locations are available at all major entrances, and curb cuts with ADA approved slopes can be found next to every accessible parking space.
The first pew in the west transept is wheelchair-accessible. The pew has a 54-inch clearance between the modesty rail and the front of the seating. Other cut-out locations on the map can accommodate an individual in a wheelchair at the end of the pew. There is also a ramp to the sanctuary, located by the statue of St. Joseph in the east transept. The ramp has limited clearance: It is 38-inches wide and ends at a door that is 34-inches wide. The door to the ramp does not feature an automatic door opener.
If you would like communion brought to your seat, extraordinary ministers are happy to help. Please alert a minister of hospitality if you would like communion brought to your pew.
Restrooms are located in the east connecting corridor. The men's, women's and family restrooms all have changing tables as well as accessible stalls. Please note that the restrooms do not have not automatic doors.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing:
LOOP systems are available for those using amplification systems. A LOOP receiver may be checked out from the vestry (in the west corridor between the Schooler Parish Life Center and the church) or from the Hospitality closet, located in the west rear stairwell.Live Captions are available during the 10 a.m. Mass on the YouTube broadcast. Enable the "Live Caption" feature. Visit the parish YouTube page (with your phone audio on silent) to access the feed during Mass.
ASL interpretation is not available. If you or a loved one would benefit from an ASL interpreter, please use the feedback form below to let us know.
Visual Sensitivity:
Large-print and Braille worship aides are not available. If you or a loved one would benefit from large print or Braille worship aides, please use the feedback form below to let us know.
For those who desire different lighting options, the three calming rooms all have options to dim or turn off overhead lighting.

Please reference the parish accessibility map for locations with controllable volume. The three calming rooms all have a volume control dial to allow for softer sounds, as does the gathering space of the Schooler Parish Life Center.
Sensory bags with noise reducing headphones are also available in the hospitality closet (east rear stairwell).
Visual Sensitivity:

Olfactory Sensitivity:
Incense is used frequently at Masses at Saint Pius X. Recognizing that there are some individuals who cannot tolerate incense, the following Masses are ALWAYS incense-free:
Sunday: 5:00 pm Mass
Holy Days of Obligation: 6:45 am and 12:00 pm Mass
Christmas & Easter: All Gym Masses are incense-free
Daily Mass: All Masses held in the chapel (6:45 AM M/W/F and 6:00 PM T/H) are always incense-free.
Calming Needs:
Sensory bags are available to check out from the hospitality closet (east rear stairwell). These include noise-reducing headphones, various fidget and stimming tools, weighted lap blankets, whiteboards, and adaptive Mass aides.
Saint Pius has also announced we will be adding a sensory room for our parishioners to use. The sensory room is located in the northeast transept and features modular seating, adaptive seating options, stim tools, controllable light and sound, sound insulation, and adaptive resources.

Diet and Allergy Accomodations
Low Gluten Hosts:
Low-gluten hosts are available for those with gluten intolerance or allergies at all Masses. Mass-goers who wish to receive low-gluten hosts should use the communion line in the nave (central aisle of the church) on the west side (left side facing the altar). The priest will have low-gluten hosts available in a separate container at his communion station. Please say "low-gluten" to indicate your desire to receive a low-gluten host.

Incense: Incense is used frequently at Masses at Saint Pius X. Recognizing that there are some individuals who cannot tolerate incense, the following Masses are ALWAYS incense-free:
Sunday: 5 p.m. Mass
Holy Days of Obligation: 6:45 a.m. and noon Mass
Christmas & Easter: All gym Masses are incense-free
Daily Mass: All Masses in the Holy Cross Chapel (6:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday) are always incense-free.

Special Needs
Children's Mass bags are available at all entrances. These bags include an adaptive worship aide from Loyola Press's Adaptive Finding God series that can assist individuals with cognitive or intellectual disabilities follow along with the order of worship.
The parish has a number of resources available to children and families through the Merici Program. Adults with disabilities are also encouraged to join our Merici community through quarterly social gatherings.
