Welcome to the Year of Prayer at Saint Pius X!
We are excited to invite you all to join us for a "Year of Prayer, Centered on the Eucharist." As a parish, we will be committing ourselves to growing deeper in the practice of prayer.
One wonderful definition of prayer is a "conversation with God about what we are doing together." Throughout this year, we will be sharing common Catholic prayers, stories of saints, prayer through the liturgical year, family prayer, and more - all with the goal of helping us as a community grow closer to God.
We hope that you will join us through our weekly email offerings, "prayer challenges," adult and children's faith formation offerings, and - most importantly - daily and weekly practice of the Mass, whether in person or remotely.
We are excited to begin this year with you - and please let us know how we can help you pray! Below you can see the themes we have planned for the this Year of Prayer. Continue to visit this site for archived videos, prayers, challenges, and use the Year of Prayer Feedback Form below to let us know your ideas as well!
August - Pray Always
Prayer Challenge: Br. Lawrence Prayer
O God, since you are with me, and it is your will that I should now apply myself to the work before me this day, I ask you to assist me with your grace, that I may continue in your presence. And to this end, O Lord, be with me in my work, accept the labor of my hands, and dwell in my heart with all your fullness.
September - Prayer with Scripture

October - Prayer with the Saints
Prayer Challenge: Subscribe to a saint of the day email list. Commit to reading about and praying with the saint of the day every day! The most popular email list comes from Fransiscan Media (https://www.franciscanmedia.org/source/saint-of-the-day/), but the FaithND email also features a daily saint along with their daily Gospel meditations (http://faith.nd.edu/), as do other publications.

November - Prayer in Advent
Prayer Challenge: Daily Examen (click HERE for details)
Pray the examen each night. We invite you to end your prayer with an Act of Contrition to help us remember the times we have fallen short and need God's mercy.

December - Praying in all Seasons
Pray a psalm every day. We invite you to pray from our “Psalm-A-Day” list available here; each Psalm on the list comes either from the Liturgy of the Hours for that day or from the lectionary for that day’s Mass.
January - Family Prayer
This month, our parish challenge is to pray with your family everyday for ten minutes. If your family already follows this prayer ritual, keep up the great work! Consider adding a few additional minutes and/or a new prayer to your routine.
We challenge all families to take this new year as encouragement to pray regularly and accept this beautiful component of faith in your life!
February- Praying in Lent
This month, we encourage your family to pick a devotional and spend time together each day reading and praying. The Magnificat has a short reflection, prayer, and possible penance, while Bishop Barron's reflections focus on the Gospels from daily Mass and make connections to our practice of Lent. Choose whichever appeals most to your family, and get to praying!
March - Tools for Prayer
This month, our parish challenge is to pray a decade of the Rosary every day. You can certainly pray more, but please don't pray less!
As a reminder, the Rosary is prayed daily at 3:00 p.m. on Facebook (@StPiusGranger), so come join us there if you'd like someone to accompany you!
April - Prayer and Suffering
This month, our parish challenge is to learn the Suspice and pray it daily - in the morning, at night, whenever! Memorization is an often overlooked tool in our faith life, so we hope you'll take the plunge and learn a new prayer. Click HERE to learn more!
May - Mary and Prayer
This month for our Year of Prayer, we are focusing on Mary - going deeper on the Angelus and Regina Caeli prayers, looking at the practice of novena prayer, and discussing how we regularly include Mary in our prayer. Click HERE to learn more!
June - Prayer and the Eucharist
One of the best ways we remember the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist is through Eucharistic Adoration and Exposition. Adoration refers to prayer before the Blessed Sacrament present in the tabernacle. Enter any church, and if the red sanctuary lamp is burning, we can be confident that Jesus, present in the Eucharist, is there awaiting us! Exposition is a specific form of adoration during which the Eucharist is displayed in a vessel called a monstrance. Benediction refers to the concluding prayer at the end of a time of Exposition, wherein the congregation gathers for prayer and a blessing. Click HERE to learn more!
July - Praying Boldly
This month, we wrap up our monthly series for the Year of Prayer. In August, we'll kick off a "Year of Renewal," and we're excited to share more about this theme with you in the coming weeks. But before we are ready to turn our attention to the renewal of our parish and world, we have one last encouragement in our prayer lives - to pray BOLDLY. Click HERE to learn more!
