About Brian Florin

• Son of parishioners Dan and Kelly Florin
• Middle of seven children
• Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2016
• Worked for Dynamic Catholic in Cincinnati before entering the seminary
• In “Third Theology” (year 5 of 6) ▪ Will be ordained to the Diaconate in May 2022, then a year later ordained a priest

Discernment

• Heard the call consistently while in Cincinnati
• Identified good and holy priests that he wanted to model himself after
• Fr. Bill loved me as a “son” before I realized I wanted to join seminary
• Fellow Seminarian Eric Plude was very intentional about his faith and helped me be more serious My parents raised us by praying with us and praying for us

Surprising Fact about Brian
Brian was actually the youngest child for seven years, before his parents had three more children!

About Sister Marie Thérèse

• Daughter of parishioners Chris and Theresa Lolmaugh
• Sisters of St. Francis were her teachers in fifth and sixth grade
• Visited sisters often and couldn’t wait to join
• Went to Holy Cross College for one year for personal growth before entering

Discernment

• Sister of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, currently in temporary vows
• Still in formation, learning what it means to be a sister
• Renews vows this summer (2022)
• Professes final vows in August 2024

Surprising Fact about Sister Marie Thérèse ?
Studying to be an elementary teacher! Mom was an elementary science teacher. Sister Marie Thérèse grew up raising caterpillars and moths.

About Seminarian Andy Barnes

• Has two brothers
• Graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 2017 and went to Marian University in Indianapolis; intended to graduate, get married, have a family, but started discerning “the call”

• Mom is a major influence in faith life, the “spiritual rock” of the house!
• A group of friends started taking faith more seriously which made him take his faith life more seriously
• Msgr. Heintz would   “make comments”...
• Currently in first year of Theology Studies at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Maryland
• Finished two years of college seminary last semester, so in year three of six overall

• Graduated from Franciscan University Major: History and Education

• Currently in second year of philosophical studies at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Maryland
• A high school teacher encouraged P.J. to join a group called the “Melchizedek Project”, a group that discusses a book called “To Save a Thousand Souls” by Fr. Brett Brandon
• Two priests he met in college provided spiritual direction and helped him discover in prayer that he was being called
• Will study in Rome beginning in July, 2022

• Currently in temporary vows, year 2.5 of 5, hoping to make Perpetual Vows in 2024
• Raised in South Bend
• Daughter of parishioners Carol and Tony Staley
• Fourth of five children in the family
• Studied Theology and Philosophy in college and was planning to work in Youth Ministry

 
Discernment

• Did a year of missionary work with National Evangelization Teams (NET Ministries) and didn’t realize at the time, but that’s where she heard the call
• Her family support was a major factor
• Main call: Lord’s invitation in prayer
