Saint Pius X Church is excited to announce The Fourth Annual Flyin’ Lion 5K! This event features a chip-timed 5K Race and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, as well as post-race celebrations – all part of the annual weekend festivities celebrating the feast day of our patron and namesake, Saint Pius X. The 5K Race starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begins immediately following the start of the 5K, both starting and ending at Saint Pius X Church.

This year's race will support the teens and young adults from Saint Pius X Church who will travel to participate in World Youth Day in 2022.  The World Youth Day pilgrimage, taking place roughly every 3 years, gathers over a million young Catholics from around the world with Pope Francis to grow in faith through prayer, teaching, and fellowship. The Flyin’ Lion 5K provides an exciting opportunity for the church, school, and local community to come together in an active way while providing financial support to make travel to World Youth Day possible.

  • 8:30 a.m. – 5K Race
  • 8:35 a.m. – 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
• Strollers are allowed on both courses
• No bicycles, skateboards, or animals allowed
• All courses close by 9:30 a.m.

PACKET PICKUP:

• Friday, August 23, 3:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Saint Pius X Church Pole Barn - located adjacent to the Parish Rectory and Athletic Fields off of Santa Monica Drive, across from the Parish Education Center (see map)
• Saturday, August 24, 7:00-8:00 a.m.
  • Saint Pius X Church Pole Barn - located adjacent to the Parish Rectory and Athletic Fields off of Santa Monica Drive, across from the Parish Education Center (see map)

PARKING:

• Parking will be available in the North, East, and South Lots on the parish campus
• Access to the South and East Lots will be from Fir Road
• Access to the North Lot will be from Santa Monica Drive at SR-23 only

ROAD CLOSURES:

• Santa Monica Dr will be closed just south of the entrance to the North Parking Lot
• Grande Vista Dr and Santa Monica Dr will be closed to through traffic
• Fir Road will close between Beacon Pkwy and Cleveland Rd
• Cleveland Rd westbound will be closed
• Capital Avenue southbound will be reduced to one lane
• Beacon Parkway eastbound will be closed

RACE SHIRT:

• Race shirts are tech, dry-fit, 100% polyester material
• Sizes: Youth (S, M, L) & Adult (S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL)
• Available only to those who pre-register by August 14
• Shirt is included in the 5K Race fee
• Shirt is available for $9 to participants of the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (order on Registration site) 

POST-RACE CELEBRATION:

• Refreshments will be provided
• Award for top overall male & female finisher
• Additional prizes for top three male & female age group winners
